What is included in the new kits

The Explorer Kit contains the essential components to build simple and fun forts and is intended for ages 4 and up. The Creator Kit is an add-on to the Explorer Kit that includes new components to build intricate forts and is intended for ages 8 and up. Each creation has an age rating that may be higher.

Are the projects that use the Creator Kit more difficult to build?

Yes, projects that require Creator Kits can be quite challenging to build, require following a long sequence of instructions, may require two or more people to build, and can take multiple hours to build. These projects are really for individuals that enjoy challenges and have the patience to follow a long sequence of instructions. These projects are not for everyone.

Projects that only require the Explorer Kit are much easier to build and will appeal to anyone that enjoys building forts. See our original Projects for a list of projects that can be built with either the original Build Kit or new Explorer Kit.

Can the new Creator Kit components be colored?

Yes, all the components (except for the foam connectors) in both the Explorer Kit and Creator Kit can be colored with crayons, markers, or paint. All these components have outlines of zany characters ready to be colored. Here are a few of the components up close to see what can be colored…

Are the components in the Explorer Kit and Creator Kit durable?

Yes, the new Explorer Kit and Creator Kit use the same heavy duty corrugated cardboard as the original Build Kit. You can see a strength demonstration at See How Strong. This is up to 6x stronger than typical shipping box cardboard. This isn’t flimsy cardboard. Everything is still Made in the USA as well.
