The Make-A-Fort Build Kits are for ages 4 and up. Younger kids will need help building. Older ones can normally build by themselves.
Each panel is about 2' x 2' and each Build Kit includes 18 panels.
You could make a 2' x 2' tunnel with three panels and repeat this six times to create a tunnel that is about 12' long with a single Build Kit.
Or pick one of our Projects and build a big fort, maze, or tunnel. A single Build Kit allows you to build a fort that requires up to 8' x 8' of floor space.
Or buy multiple Build Kits to build really big things (most customers buy three Build Kits).
Yes, the black connectors simply slide snugly into the panel and brace slots to hold things together. Simply pull the black connectors out to tear down what you've built and store away in the provided carrying case. Build something new on a different day.
Yes, each Build Kit includes a carrying case that is about 24" x 24" x 4.5" in size. All the panels, yellow braces, and black connectors fit back in the carrying case. Store the carrying case under a bed or in a closet when not in use.
The yellow braces and panels are made from an upgraded cardboard that is much stronger and durable than normal shipping box cardboard. See How Strong for a comparison of our panels vs normal shipping box cardboard.
The circular black connectors are made from a dense foam. The connectors fit tightly in the yellow brace and panel slots firmly to hold things together.
The braces can be used to make corners stronger. This is particularly useful when building larger roofs to reduce sagging in the roof.
Each panel has a set of red slots and a set of yellow slots along each edge. The red slots tend to more snug and the yellow slots tend to less snug.
Only two connectors are normally needed when joining two panels -- use whichever color slots you think works best.
Yes, the characters on the panels were designed to be colored with crayons, markers, or even paint. Color the panels to look however you wish.
Yes, the panels, braces, and carrying case are all made from recycled cardboard and can be recycled again at end of the life of the Build Kit.

After a gazillion prototypes with different designs and materials, we think we ended up with a great way for kids to build forts.
Yes, our most popular purchase is three Build Kits. While a single Build Kit is fun, multiple Build Kits let you build even bigger structures.
The Build Kits were designed to build temporary structures inside. The Build Kit panels are made of cardboard and any rain or wind is problematic; however, other customers have built outside on days with no wind nor precipitation.
